Episode 235 Charlie Bartlett Listeners Choice

The recent, untimely death of actor Anton Yelchin sent us into his back catalogue. The 2007 high school dramedy, Charlie Bartlet was recommended to us by our special guest, Rankin. Yelchin plays the titular character, a charismatic teenager whose goal in life is to be liked by everyone. After getting expelled from private school, the affluent teen finds himself in a brand new public school where he has a long way to go to reach popularity. Yelchin is confident and charming in the role, and Robert Downey Jr. is entertaining as the befuddled principal. Todays discussion ranges from an appraisal of high school movie tropes to Yelchins performance and the overall message of the film.
