Military operations are painted in shades of grey, and EYE IN THE SKY presents a complicated portrait of a drone attack in Kenya. The film is depicted almost completely in real time as a tense situation grows more dire when an ambitious British Colonel (Helen Mirren) demands a "hellfire" strike on an African compound, despite the collateral damage that would result. Aaron Paul plays an American pilot who questions Mirrens authority when it seems an innocent girl would die, unless they can wait it out for just a bit longer... Gripping and well-done, (and featuring a powerful role for Mirren -written originally for a man) EYE IN SKY is highly topical.
